Cabins & Camping
There's nothing special about the camp grounds at Nyakka River. You see one Florida State Park camp ground, you see'em all. They're clean, well-maintained, and attractive. Just the way you'd want them to be.
The five log cabins (available for rent; be sure to book well in advance) were built almost seventy years ago by the same CCC men who built the horse barn that became the Visitor Center. The logs are cabbage palm trunks chinked with tar and sawdust. According to the leaflet about the cabins that's available at the ranger station, some "modern conveniences" have been added to accommodate modern tastes such as air conditioning and indoor plumbing. Now that's roughing it!.
